How can I sell my amateur photography? I've been taking a lot of pictures with my manual camera and would like to know how I could go about selling some of them. I live in NYC, if that makes a difference.
How to sell photography? I am an amateur photographer, but I would like to know if anyone knows how to get your foot in the door with photography? I would like to sell some of my picture but I don't know how. I have tried reading different books but no really tells you where to start. I am going to be entering some of my pictures in our county fair but that is just for fun :). Please, if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. If you are someone who has been in my position, I would love to hear your story. Thank you very much for you advise.
Does anyone know any good amateur photography contests? I want to be a photographer. I know I take fantastic pictures, but I want to share them and get my heads start now! Im looking into putting some up in a couple coffee shops and selling them, but I wanted to know if anyone knew any legitimate contests? Im 16 years old if that matters at all :)
selling my own simple, amateur photography? Being a broke college student, I want to see if I can earn just a little bit of extra money by selling my photographs. I'm nowhere near a professional photographer - it's not like a hobby; in fact, some of my photos were taken from my cellphone. I just like taking photos when I spot something beautiful, and I've gotten quite a few compliments on some of them... mostly nature, like flowers and insects and landscapes. So I was thinking I could print out my photos and design my own paper frame.. just get some paper and cut out a rectangular shape, and put some pretty designs so that the photo can have a unique border. My question is, what is a reasonable price to price each piece [photo + simple paper frame]? I realize my photography's probably not the super greatest since I'm not a professional or anything, but I was thinking maybe $5? Too much, too little? As a starting price for a person selling photos for the first time. Thanks for any help! :) I didn't give anybody a thumbs down, and I'm not being ignorant - I'm asking these questions so I can get some insight and see whether it's something smart to pursue or not. I'd appreciate it if your answers weren't so condescending. Also, you don't know how well they might sell - maybe my city would love to give a few bucks to its broke college students in exchange for pieces of art? It's not like I'm planning to start my own photography business or something, I'd just like to see if I can sell some of them either around town or through the internet - and yes, other people do that. My question hasn't been answered - I appreciate your opinions, but my question is asking if I were to do it, what a reasonable starting price would be. Also, I didn't say all of them were taken by my cellphone, only a few. And yes, I have printed the ones from my cellphone, and no, they don't look crappy.
Good Camera for Amateur Stock Photography? What would be a good camera to get for doing amateur digital stock photography. I want something affordable that will provide me with a high enough resolution to sell them as stock photos. Could I pull it off with even a simple camera, like a cybershot or something?

What do I need to know to sell my photography? I am looking to start selling my photography. I am making a website, and I am also going to sell my photos off of a website called Etsy.com. What I need to know is, do I need to copy wright my photos? If so, how do I do that, and do I have to copy wright each photo individually? If I start selling photos, does that disqualify me from amateur contests? Thanks for help!

Using Google Base and Google Checkout for selling your stock photos ? As a professional or amateur photographer, would you consider selling your stock photographies using Google Base (for helping people find it) and Google Checkout (for cheap money transaction processing) in order to cut the middleman (LuckyOliver, Fotolia, SXC, and other token-based microstock sites alike) ? If so, what would be your major obstacle in doing so ? Technical difficulties in bulk uploading images ? Reusing existing annotations for your images found on other software ?
I have a question about selling photos and home-made crafts online? See, my friend and I both need a job, and someone suggested to me to sell my photos online...my friend and I both like to model. We've tried modeling sites to no end, and none of them have worked. Since we're amateurs, nobody really wants to pay us money. We figured that maybe we could sell our photos online, not just of us but also, since we both like photography too, random scenery photos and what-not. I was wondering if there are any FREE sites to do this on, or if using myspace would be fine? Is it illegal to use myspace to sell stuff. We were also thinking of later on selling little handmade crafts, or pictures we've drawn (I'm really good at art) Is there any hope for us, and if so can someone please answer my questions? Thank you so much for all your help!
How does advertising agency hire new people? Do you have to have University qualifications to work in an advertising agency?I worked deliverying leaflets, catalogues, newspapers.I also worked in an office selling advertising space in a magazine, worked in telemarketing, door to door sales, worked some promotions jobs, met an American Director Ian MacDonald, have a certificate in photography and some knowledge of Graphic Design, know how to use a computer. What do you need to work in an advertising agency?I also worked for KFC and Pizza Hut.I am also published in a magazine.I worked in community television. So is this enough to work in an advertising agency.Oh yeah i won a "Solo" T-shirt in 1999 for my amateur advertisement. How many schools do you have to do to work in Advertising Agency?
Sony A900 DSLR or Canon 5D mark ii? Well here is whats on my mind. When i get to my tech school i will be in the market for a camera, a good one. I currently am using a canon xt with digi power battery grip, kit lens, 50mm lens and a few others. They are not exactly L series lenses or anything so i wouldnt be losing alot of money by selling them if i went with the sony (not sure if i can even use them on the 5D anyway). Basically i just need to know which one of these cameras is right for me. I like to take pictures of cars, architecture, nightscapes of cities etc. I am a amateur when it comes to photography but see my self getting into much much more. Here is some stats that i found on the cameras. Sony A900 Canon 5D MKII Resolution 24.6 MP 21 MP Frame Rate 5 FPS 3.9 FPS Video Capability NO YES Dust Shake YES YES In-Body Image Stabilization YES NO - selected lenses only Dual Memory Card Slots YES NO ISO Range (including extended) 100 - 6400 50 - 25,600 Bit Depth 12 bit 14 bit My Memory feature NO YES Easy mirror lock-up YES NO Live View NO YES Current B&H Price - Dec, 2008 (See note) $2,999 $2,699
Which Canon Telephoto Lens should I purchase? The EF 70-200mm f/4.0 USM L has a $40 rebate right now (539.99), making it slightly cheaper than the EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM (564.99). I will be using either lens as a Telephoto Zoom along with EF 28-135mm IS USM, EF 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 Macro and EF 22-55mm f/4.5-5.6 USM (which I plan to sell since I have grown out of it). I then plan to buy decent standard and possibly large telephoto prime lenses to accompany my system. I am purchasing a Canon 40D (realize the 1.6X magnification) and already own an Elan 7E. I am a Graduate student/amateur photographer. I sometimes photograph weddings, but mostly abstract photography is my game. I usually cannot afford L series lenses, but this seems like the time to do so. The 70-300mm would give me a larger telephoto range + IS. The L Series has slightly better performance in all areas it seems, no IS but I have a decent tripod anyways + experience with said tripod. Should I go for the L Series lens and why? Renting would be nice but I'm living in the boonies.
Hey Photographers, should i buy a Nikon D70? I know this camera is old but it is still worth it or should i get a D60 or a D50 Please give any advice. PS. I plan on Doing nude photography possibly for profit in indiana? I was wondering several things... 1. What forms would i need to ensure i am protected by the law. 2. What is the best way to acquire models for this purpose. I would prefer amateurs as they would be more fun to work with but if i can get a experienced nude model that would be great. 3. I plan on making things like calendars and possibly posters for the purpose of selling. 4. Where can i ask a lawyer at for free regarding these questions. Thx I mean like where can i email a lawyer to check to see if the form im going to use is acceptable to the state of indiana, legally.
Wanting a digital camera $150-$200.It must be 6mgpxl+& 3x op zoom & have video. Probably Walmart. Suggestions? I am a young, amateur photographer who just had her camera die on her, and is looking at getting a new one. I hope to maybe be able to sell some of my photograpy eventually, but most of my photography will be hobby. I mainly take pictures of landscapes, and closeups of flowers and other things like that. However, I also take a lot of animal pictures. It has to be 6 megapixels+, must have 3x optical zoom, and must have video. I'd like to have a 7 megapixel camera with 4x optical zoom. I want it to perform well on closeups, not getting blurry. I also want it to perform well at night without getting too colorfully grainy. I want it to be able to take motion pictures without blurring, and I would like it if it doesn't take 2 seconds to take the picture like my old one did. I want one that will make clouds look 3d, not just flat. I have a memory card, so that's not an issue. It must have video, the better quality the better. I'm not sure what all I can get for under $200, and I'm pretty well limited to shopping at walmart. ANy suggestions as to a good reliable model or brand? Oh, and under no circumstance am I getting a THIRD Vivicam 5100!!! I'm going to stay away from Vivitar. I was looking at a pentax and a kodak. Pentax=6.0 megapixels, 3x op zoom $150. Kodak 7.1 megapixels, 3x op zoom, $160 Which is more reliable? Oh, and if you say that you've had a camera, please tell me how LONG you've had it. I was very hapy with mine for 6 months before it broke down.
Is it a scam?? Is there anyone else that supposedly had their photos selected to be published in the book "ENDLESS JOURNEYS". The book as near as I understood was being sold in bookstores this fall, but they are giving us a chance to buy it online directly from them for a cheaper price. I am an amateur at photography so that is why I'm skeptical. The website is picture.com. Is this a scam??
Can anyone advise whats best: Canon or Nikon...or Hasselblad or Mamiya for Dance Photography? Obvioulsy the cost will be different...Im wanting to invest in a brand so I can expand accordingly. Im an amateur and dont know whats the best way to go about when my knowledge is soooo sooo limited. My main interest in Dance and People...so i understand the Shutter speed has got to be excellent....Im not clued up to whats great and whats not - though am trying...Ive talked to a few people...but their knowledge is also limited. I really dont want to be sold something thats not going to enable me to get the photos I want...any advice would be great. I am on a Budget...rangeing upto about 1 Grand...but am unsure as to what this can get me....I want to get a really good camera body...plus lenses etc. I know this is all abit vague...hence my asking for help...any particular brands or models etc would be great. Thanks! Sorry - this is for a Digital SLR Main function: Dance / Action/ People Wow - thanks so much for the honest responses.... Perhaps abit more research and then off to check them out in the shop... Im aware that Hasselblad & Mamiya are that extra bit expensive and perhaps more than I need.... I will check out what I can get even if over budget abit - at the end of the day - if I can capture the frame and not lose the moment...and of course be able to shoot in low light...then Im half way there! Thanks again and any more advice always welcome.... Cheers!

Amateur photgraphy......... pics looks!? I started photography last year, and just got a new very nice camera from my fiance. I would love to try and sell some of my work, and take pictures of others. My question is, do I have what it takes? I would obviously not charge a lot. What do you think of my recent pictures? With people and objects? I have done bridals, and pregnancy shots, family and a lot of just things that I like. What can I do to improve? Do girls like being photographed? I photographed 2 teenage girls during Fashion Week after asking them who were working but i didnt sell the photograph or publish it.I do photography as a hobby and worked in the past in photography studio but am just an amateur who was student of photography.
Where to post photographs (serious amateur)? Could someone point me to a site where i can post my photography work? I would like constructive criticism and some technical guidance. Sites like deviantart.com have really gone to the dogs as far as i'm concerned. And flickr leaves a lot to be desired. I don't sell my work, I just want some exposure since keeping my photos all for myself isn't helping any. Thanks in advance
Anyone done stock photography? Thinking of doing stock photography. I’m not expecting to make a lot of money or expect all my pictures to get approved, I just thought it’d be a fun way to make a few bucks. First of all, I’m an amateur photographer. I have a good camera (canon powershot g7) and have complimented on my pictures, but as an amateur do I really have a chance at all at getting my pictures on a stock photo site? Also, I got the gist of how stock photo sites work, but just so I’m clear… if they approve my picture, is the picture still “mine” or does that site now own it? On the website, would it be just a “generic picture” and nothing more, and I’d still be able to submit the picture to other sites, sell it, whatever else I want to do with it? And some short questions…. Do I have to have a business license or patent of some sort, or can I just submit my stuff like that? And do I have to claim it as an income for taxes, or is there a certain limit that I can make without having to claim it?
Digital Photography? I would like to get into digital photography in a serious way. I've got my SLDR camera + accessories and am studying my exposures and focal lengths. I've heard of amateur photographers getting noticed, even selling their work. How does one get started? Should I start some website and post my photos? What's the best way to get noticed? And how do you actually go about selling them? ........... of course, I meant DSLR camera. Thanks for the answers sofar. Any budding digital photographers here have a blog site with their photos and details of how they took the picture? If so, also grateful if you could leave your blogsite so I can have a look and see how it's supposed to be done. Many thanks for all your answers thusfar!
What to charge as an amateur photographer? I'm wanting to to earn some extra cash by hopefully doing some senior pictures. I know I can't charge too much because I am not a real professional, but my sister doesn't want me to sell myself short. I have taken two photography classes here at my college and have quite a bit of knowledge of Photshop CS3. I figured here's what I could charge: Charge a small sitting fee in case they don't buy any at all. Charge for the normal time I would put into the photos. Charge an extra fee if they want any extra photoshop work done. Charge for me to either print the photos for them or charge them for a burned CD with the pictures for them to print off, or both. And if they want partial rights to the photos so that I can only use them for display that would be another fee. But I'm just not exactly sure what to actually charge as an Amateur photographer. Please help! Thanks!
I am a stay at home mom who wants to start her own photography business? I need to be able to work from home. I have to have a flexible schedule because one of my children is special needs. I want to work from home while they are in school. My problem is getting the word out that I am doing this. I am an artist/amateur photographer and want to greatly expand in the photography department of things. I make jewelry too. I know I can take pics of it and sell it online.that's fine and all. But I really want to become a professional photographer eventually. I was considering running a Valentine's Day special with fliers any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
