1. What a question!! I started taking pics around the neighborhood when I was eight. Next I took pics at school. You are 18 so offer to do photos for a church, nursing home, etc. Charge a little a first, more later. Be certain you have reliable equipment and back up. Be certain you have a reliable lab that does quality work. This can be expensive. When I got started, I did sports photography, but most leagues have contracts so it's harder to get a break. 2. go digital... that way, you won't have to waste money on the film and you'll be able to take more pictures and practice on getting a good shot. you can also try submit your pictures for stock photos. try some stock photo website like corbis.com or some others like it. they should have the requirement for submission. if you're good enough, then you'll know... digital photos also let you learn to use photoshop and create artistic photos (if you are into that kind of stuff). if not, it does let you touch up your photos to produce better looking photos.
