What is the best camera?
In a few weeks i'm going to start practicing photography. I have taken some nice shots with my digital camera, but i need a new one (this one is only 3mpx and its from 2000). For a beginner photographer, what is the best digital camera and what is the best film camera? I plan to take more black and white photos than color if that is a factor in picking a camera.

- I would recommend a larger camera. One with 10x optical zoom, 9.0 megapixels or higher, and optical image stability features. Good brands are Canon, Kodak, or HP. They have all been around for quite some time. You also want a large screen to view your pictures larger cameras are easier to stabilize, and smaller cameras are very shaky. Most photographers have bigger cameras, not small Photoshot cameras. Although these are nice because they can fit in your pocket.
- if you are gonna be taking more black and white photos then color then it is not a factor.. because to get the best black and white photos you want to shoot in color. There you get more options of how you want to fiddle with the R G and B channels. Though there really is no best camera really. Also Megapixels don't always make the best camera. Its the best camera for you..that's what makes them the best Sure the Nikon D50 is a really good camera and really expensive to.. Though here are the questions you want to ask yourself. Do I want to manually control everything from the amount of light let in to how long my shutter will stay open to the white balance control. Or do i want a camera that does all of that Do i want a camera that can hold its shutter open for about 12 hours or just 2 minutes? (this is called Bulb exposure) Do i want image stabilization or no? (better to have it i say) What megapixels do I want (bigger does not mean better pictures) What gives you better pictures is the quality of the lens glass, and the camera's jpg settings. When you take pictures in jpg, the camera compresses the image you are taking. Some cameras settings compress the image to much when shooting in jpg and some don't this helps the quality of the pictures. Therefore a lot of people should in TIFF or in Raw but the file sizes can get very big. Thats why I shoot in jpg Do I want an DSLR camera or just a digital camera so i don't have to be bying lenses for my camera. Do I want to take infrared shots or no? You just have to know what you want and look around..the best thing to do is look at lots and lots of reviews. say you found a camera (i have this one) and it is called Olympus C-8080wz go to google then and type Olympus C-8080wz reviews and just look are reviews for each camera
- I can't speak too much about digital cameras. Film cameras are another story. Nikon F series and Canon AE-1 Program cameras are very good for starters. I just bought a Canon A-1 with a lens yesterday for $70 off of Craigslist......I've already used it. Works well for a 20+ year old camera. Used film cameras are inexpensive and you can get excellent lenses for cheap. In most cases, the lenses will be better than what you can get on a digital camera......for a lot less $$$$$.
