  1. Either a Canon Rebel or EOS, or a Sony Cybershot
  2. Beginner photographers start out with film. A good used Nikon or Canon 35mm SLR camera with lens can be found for under $200 on craigslist.
  3. I don't think Sony Cybershoot is good camera, I'd used it and the image quality is poor compared to Nikon (D70 or better) or Canon EOS (300D or better)... Start with one of those described plus cheap but great 50/1.8 lens and you won't sorry
  4. A Nikon D40x is a nice digital SLR and will do the job quite well!
  5. Look at the Sony Alpha 100. It is a 10m pixel camera with excellent lenses, including several Zeiss Prime and Zooms. As a retired Pro having used all the top film cameras - Alpa, Leica, Contax, Canon and Nikon, The Alpha 100 and 700 are my choice of Digital Camera. The only drawback is that the hotshoes only support Sony flash units. With the 700 release prices for the Alpha 100 are extremely competitive.
  6. cannon 400 or sony a100 you can add to both the to have s system that can shot enything if you want too later
  7. I agree with fossilmyki and will add this about the Sony A100: It can use every Minolta Maxxum auto focus lens made since 1985. It also uses most of the accessories for the Konica-Minolta D5 & D7 DSLR cameras including the flash units. It has Anti-Shake in the camera body. IMO it simply offers more features and benefits than its comparably priced competitors.
  8. I have been learning with 35mm SLR and in doing so am learning the core foundations of taking good quality images. I feel that in time when I switch over to a DSLR i will have more respect for photography and the camera I am using. I find that shooting with a film camera is just as gratifying as shooting with a digital one. Pretty much anything you can do with a DSLR can be done on a 35mm SLR of course the results are instant with digital but none the less understanding how film works and how a camera works is very important.
