  1. Yeah, it's great. It would be a dream kit for many. I guess you are in Canada, then. I don't know exactly what the exchange rate is now, but that's a lot of money to spend. As I mentioned in my other answer, you can get the camera, lens and flash for US$830 from B&H Photo. This would include the battery and everything else that normally ships with the camera, but not the memory card, which would cost maybe US$30. When some places put together "outfits," they really rock you for the accessories. At least this kit doesn't have lens cleaning fluid or a cheap tripod. Compare the prices with B&H Photo (www.bhphotovideo.com) and see if they ship to Canada. Henry's might be an excellent retailer, but I am just not familiar with them and I don't know about the current exchange rate either. Use B&H as a comparison just to see what an honest dealer sells the equipment for at a fair price. If Henry's is close, then go for it. I have some better lenses myself, but please ignore the answer telling you that the 18-55 kit lens is junk, because it is not. He has suggested a lens that costs well over US$1,000 which you simply don't need yet. You don't even know if you will like photography yet, so don't go spending that kind of money on a lens. Hey, you might come over to Nikon once you know what you are doing, so don't get a thousand dollar Canon lens yet. :-)
  2. Yeah thats perfect stuff. you will only need more advanced stuff when you get to a more advanced level of photography please make me best answer i need points
  3. Perfect choice for a beginner. The 18-55mm EF-S lens however is a very cheap piece of plastic. I would suggest upgrading that to an EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens which is a great general purpose lens and has almost comparable optics to an L-series lens. Also, since it is a f/2.8 it is a faster lens than the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, therefore it will perform better in low light situations. The 18-55mm also does not have Image Stabilization (IS) like the one I mentioned. This is an absolute must if you are going to take shots without a tripod. Good luck! To Bill P: If she has $1500 to spend, why not go for a little extra. If she's going to be taking photos of indoor concerts that are dark like she mentioned then she'll be a lot happier with the photos with a 2.8 lens with IS. You sir are obviously not a professional photographer, so shhh.
  4. Sounds like a GREAT beginning!
  5. that all sounds good. if you are buying it at Henry's you can also ask them about their School of Imaging. at some locations i know they have a class on intro to DSLRs. it would be very helpful.
  6. So this young girl is attempting to begin in photography and she is told that $1500 is not quite enough to spend, that she needs a better lens. BS - totally BS. She is fine with what she has selected and can buy peripheral equipment as she goes along and finds that she needs it.
