1. Well, it depends on what you're looking for, and how much you want to spend. My first digital camera was a Vivitar and it cost me $25. I bought it at a surplus store. It was great for a beginner. But, the one I have now is a Canon Powershot SD1000. It is AMAZING! It has tons of features, like Color Swapping, Color Accenting, Macro, etc. And, it only costs $200. It's a good camera for beginning to intermediate photographers. I love mine!!
2. disposable cameras are great. they are pretty much foolproof and you can get ones that even take pictures underwater.
