- You should signup on http://www.deviantart.com/ From there you can upload your pictures (with watermarks on them) for people to browse through, and then sell the prints.
- download free templates, and replace the design images with your own. at Open Source Web Design, you can find lots of templates for free... www.oswd.org then get a php-based shopping cart system like this one: http://gscripts.net/free-php-scripts/PHP_Shopping_Carts/osCommerce/details.html finally, only put low resolution images on your pages, offering the real images in your osCommerce inventory. invest in a good WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) web design suite, such as Adobe Dreamweaver.
- Visit www.piczo.com,here you can make yours own free site. You will find support as well means guidance.
- Well, this is a great question. You want to make a functional website so customers can view and buy their photos. How do you start and what do you do afterwards. I am eager to answer this. I personally have my own website that I like the play around with. If you want to look professional, you will need a DOT com name first off. I as a consumer love to see legit sites. If I visit a website that is from geocities trying to sell photos, I will not buy from them. Having the professional site adds props to your work. You are looking at $30 for the year registration. Hosting is another fun matter. You can easily get hosting for cheep now-a-days. I use godaddy.com but there are so many to choose from. You are looking at about 70-200 bucks a year for a good hosting package. You want to find a hosting provider that will support all your traffic and not charge you more for it. Each time someone accesses your page or downloads an image, that counts against your total quota. Make sure to find a large amount of bandwidth. Storage will be good for you since you will have a large number of pictures. Design is where the money gets pricey. If you can design the site yourself, you can save a load of money. You can find on the web many companies who will design a website for you. They will even give you a quote up front too. I would check around and find out how much they may charge you. As I understand your needs, you need an interactive site where customers can access their photos. You might want to think about username and password protection too. Some people will want to protect their identities. This could run you a few hundred on up depending on the design, the pictures, the actual codes, etc. It's a one time investment that will pay off over time. The hardest part would be maintainance. Who would take care of the page if it goes down or if it needs touch ups? Are you willing to learn some programming to get started in the biz? If you are, you can help save yourself from hiring someone to watch over it. I believe you are on your path to making your business. I just hope you realize you might be spending just for the site itself over 300/500 for registration fees and hosting per year alone not including the design. If you think you will topple that, then you are in business my good man.
