What photo editing program would you suggest to a beginner photographer...?
who is taking photography very seriously? I'm studying it right now and want a photo editor but I don't know which one to get! There are quite a few...I'd like for it to be somewhere under $300 and compatible with mac xD Any suggestions?

- Adobe Elements
- If you are a student then I would say get Photoshop. It's expensive, but with the student discount it's surprisingly affordable. It is a little intimidating at first, but there's millions of online tutorials, and if you're that serious about photography, Photoshop is really the only way to go.
- Get Corel for Mac. We use it to make magazines , posters, editing and is just as good , if not better than Photoshop. We also use InDesign. Corel finally came out for Mac after much demand. It has an awesome built in tutorial and easy to use. It's on special now if you go on Corel, as a student, you will love it for its user-friendliness. Even as a professional, this is a top-notch program. here is the link: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ca/en/Content/1150905725000
- good photographers dont use photo editing software... other than to add visible watermarks to help protect copyrights. but if you must... I like paint shop pro. its easy to use and EVERYTHING has a help button that give you more info than you will ever use.
- Adobe Photoshop is the studio industry standard.
- photo editing program compatible with mac,$ start with what mac has to edit with, iphoto / aperture, http://www.apple.com/ilife/iphoto/ http://www.apple.com/aperture/ then check adobe programs photoshop/ elements/ lightroom, http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index.html http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelmac/ http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/ also check corel paintshop-photopro / photoimpact http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1184951547051#tabview=tab0 http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1192197450406#tabview=tab0 PhotoImpact Pro http://www.novadevelopment.com/products/PhotoImpact_Pro_13/default.aspx ArcSoft PhotoStudio http://www.arcsoft.com/products/photostudio/ Gimp ~image editor, http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html ..
- this site is web based and has really cool features www.blingeasy.com you can do tons of effects.
- Adobe Photoshop, if you're that serious this is really the only route to go. The expense is there in the beginning, but it is completely worth it. Like the other reviewer said, there is a student discount which really helps. The current version is Adobe Photoshop CS3. Websites like Apple, www.campustech.com, and www.academicsuperstore.com sell it for right at $300. You will need proof of enrollment to get the discount though, and I couldn't tell by your question if you're a student or self taught. Either way good luck, I'm addicted to photoshop and have never regretted spending the extra money.
