1. You will need a camera that allows you to control it, some of the Canon 'point and shoot' have aperture priority and manual modes, but the best type of camera by far is a DSLR, not cheap, but they can do anything you will need in the future. Entry level ones can be used as a 'point and shoot' till you get the experience/knowledge to use it more creatively. Chris
2. Get a Canon Xti with the kit lens. It's perfect.
3. I don't take very good photos, my daughter is the photographer around here.....she was a model so she has experience around cameras. She has been in several national magazines and is a production assistance on photo shoot for a national magazine. So she has the eye for photography.
