Tips and tricks for starting out online?

I want to start a photography business online, but I don't really know how to go about doing it. I was wondering if I should start out by selling my stuff on a website such as cafepress, or devaintart until I get the hang of it to make a website of my own. Would you guys recommend either site or not?

  1. I would suggest testing to see if there is a market for your pictures first, before going to the expense of setting up a website... A good, simple, and inexpensive way to test the market it to offer them for sale on eBay. If people buy there you will know you should be able to sell them online.
  2. yes i would. put them up on both and see if anyone bites on buying them.
  3. I would definitely suggest Cafepress to start your online business. It's a print on demand website where there is no start up cost except $6.95 every month for their premium site. You design and they handle mailing, customer service, returns, etc. It does take work, time and patience, but if your art is what customers are looking for then you'll earn commission. Good luck.
