- get the book photographer's market guide. it has a bunch of businesses that buy photographs what you have to do to work with them if they use amature work and all that stuff. Good Luck.
- A good place to start, would be to go around to various local businesses, and let them know that your available. See about joining the local chamber of commerce, or Kiwanis, etc... Lots of businesses need photos, for marketing and sales, informational reasons, employee developement, and more. Put together comp cards or rack cards, and business cards that you can leave with prospective customers. You might want to quote some package deals, just so they have an idea of your pricing. Asterisk it with a "pricing subject to change" disclaimers, or an expiration date.. Get some sales order and agreements printed up, specifying things like copyright and usage agreements. Hope this helps.
- check out some of the stock photo agencies.. http://bigstockphoto.com is one...
- since you're just starting, you might want first to gain more experience. why not start off doing business with friends first, neighbors,or your school or relatives, take their portraits, have them framed, edit it in photoshop first if you like, sell it to them...or like become an event photographer, weddings, documentaries etc..., be sure to give them a call card. i think its a good way to make yourself known to some people and potential customer, and also as a training. while you have spare time, then photograph whatever you want and the rest is up to you. goodluck!
