- Why don't you get some training first, then work as an assistant to get some real on the job training. Then come ask this question. What kind of training do you have. Everyone with a digital camera thinks they can become a professional. This just isn't so. I've had professional training and working out of the home just doesn't work well. I didn't get business till I bought a store front. You need alot of money to do this!
- You would be best served getting an apprenticeship with a pro photographer. After you do that and you have a good handle on the business, check out www.adorama.com or www.bhphoto.com Between those two sites you should be able to get everything you need.
- Hello, I would recommend classes at BetterPhoto.com. The instructors are excellent. They offer a lot of classes on the business of photography. I have taken several classes with them online. Also, I would recommend ebay and B&H Photo(bhphotovideo.com). Both are excellent for quality equipment at reasonable prices. I would hesitate to jump into anything major until knowing it thoroughly...trust me on this ;-) I would also suggest a few books: "Photographers Market Guide to Building your Photography Business" by Vik Orenstein, "How to Start a Home-Based Photography Business" by Kenn Oberrecht, check Half.com for photography business books. Also check out betterphoto.com for excellent classes. I hope this helps you, good luck and seek advice!
- Backgrounds, lighting, tripods - http://www.amvona.com/ Lighting - http://photobasics.net/ Anything else - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ Also look for photography and art supply stores in your area.
