I am a beginner photographer. Do I want a DSLR?

I want to learn how to take great pictures. I have a point and shoot right now. The pictures I think suck. I am part of car clubs. I will be taking pictures of cars and family members too. Not too many action shots.

After you have honed your skills with the 35 mm, then look into buying a DSLR that matches the lenses you have with your 35 mm camera system. Nikon = Nikon, Canon = Canon, etc.
