- You obviously need to register a domain name, set up a website. Set up online payment - Paypal is easy to set up - it will take credit card as well as Paypal payments, and has a shopping cart system you can install. There are really no legalities to go through, just set it up and go. The only thing you need is to have a stated privacy policy on your site to protect your customers, and in the UK to comply with the Distance Selling Regulations.
- If you set up a new business then as well as setting up your domain name etc you need to register as self employed with H.M. Revenue & Customs. You must do this within 3 months of starting trading. You can register on line, the link is given below. If you follow through the 'First steps to register as self employed guide' it will show you exactly what you need in order to register your business. Good luck with your venture!
