How to start a photography business?

I am thinking of persuing a career in photography, possibly opening a business for Pet Photographs. Do I need credentials? Where do I start? 1. I wouldn't start that business just yet. Your photos seem to be more snap shots. Some are blurry, some are over exposed, some pictures you cut off part of the animal's head. Yet, there are some pictures that are nice. You need more practice in lighting, composition and learning animal behavior before you start a pet photography business.
2. I checked out your da account and I love your work. However, I wonder what kind of market there is for pet portraits. How about considering doing something with humans and animals. Have you ever heard of something called pinup's for pitbulls. I am just suggesting that you diversify your portfolio before you get started in a business. Good luck and I wish you the best. :)

4. You need a lot better work than you currently have to be able to have a successful business. There is nothing on your site which would make me come to you for pet or any other portraits. Starting a business is easy enough, just get the premises, register with the tax man and possibly locally and away you go. BUT, to actually run a business you need a lot of skills, not just in photography but in business, bookkeeping, customer relations, marketing, etc etc.
