  1. Nikon coolpix are great cameras. They are for "point and shoot" photography - meaning that they are not digital SLR. They turn on quickly and take a photo almost instantly from turning the camera on, provided it is in the right mode. Most of Nikon's cameras are fairly simple to operate and the coolpix cameras are small enough to fit in a pocket.
  2. well, photography is usually made with a dSLR, which is a camera that does NOT fit in your pocket. however, canon carries a P&S camera that actually has everything a dSLR has, except you cannot change the lens. pretty sick too. you can buy it at Best Buy. :P
  3. that would feel very uncomfartable in a pocket, I can't recommend you anything else but nikon or cannon, but I'll tell you this from experience, DO NOT use kodak, they SUCK! BADLY!
  4. That camera is amazing! And it's all touch screen! 12.1 mp!
  5. You could look into the D60 or even at minimum the D40...The benifit of the D40 is the live view screen. I personally use the D80 right now, and are already jonesning for the next upgrade. Lenses are where you will get insane...start with the beginning lenses that come one the D60 or D40 kits...and move up from there. You can almost clean anything up with a quality photo editor. If you are using a slower SLR and are concerned about blur invest in a good lense with an optical stabilizer. Once you get a good lense you can almost certainly use the lense forever as long as you continue to stay with compatable camera bodies. Oh and invest in a good storeage card (weather it's SD or other forms)...the faster the card can write info to it the faster you'll be able to move on to the next shot...I found this to be extremely useful in action shots... The next step is to find a good photography blog to read. I would recommend http://www.beyondmegapixels.com if you don't know one. They've posted great content related to the latest camera’s, photography hints, and latest developments in the industry. -Michael
  6. A Nikon would be a good choice, their digital slrs take excellent pictures. One particular model to start with is the Nikon D40. Since the output is digital, you can easily upload it to your favorite online photo sites such as snapixel.
  7. If you're serious about getting into photography, you might want to scap the idea of having a small cam to stick in your pocket. Small cameras are compact but they lack a lot of quality. You may want to research into 'started SLR's - Canon or Nikon. They are a bit more expensive but you're probably looking to part with around £300-£500 for a good one. I have my own photography business and when I first started I got a 350D, it was a good camera and helped me learn the technical side to photography. It's complicated at first to know all the settings, but you will soon get used to it. Maybe even take a short course?
