Whats the best camera to start with for an beginner or amature in photography?
I really do find it interesting taking pictures of people, nature, and wildlife and to my suprise i've taken some nice pictures. I just want to be to find a camera thats user friendly, has good quality, durable, and long lasting quality. Any good cameras come to mind?

- The Pentax K1000 and the Bronica ETR are good choices. Both are very affordable. The Leica M3 is what I learned on.
- My personal choice would be the Nikon FM or FM100. They are both fully manual and are very durable. Although if you don't know how to play with the f/stops and shutter speeds you may want to go with something more automatic with some manual controls. I learned on a Nikon FM.
- Get a Holga or Diana camera. They're very simple to use, just pop in the film and start taking pictures.
- Both previous answers seem to assume you want a film camera. I am not sure about that. If you do go for something that has the possibility to go fully manual but at least some degree of automatic. What comes to mind is a camera like the Nikon FE (or 2) or possibly something a little more recent like the Nikon F301. Both of these (bodies) should be findeable for under $100 I guess. If you look for AF too try to find an F3 or F4. When going digital however, which I would suggest when starting because of the cost I would say (still) Nikon D40. A great startercamera with ease of use and good quality for a low price.
- Definately the Nikon D40... i just purchased one about a month ago and I love it. I can send you some pictures if you like. The picture quality is amazing and it is so easy to use. If you are moving up from a point and shoot camera this one is great for you. You can get it on amazon, (WITH THE KIT LENSE!!) for $400. I love my D40! -I hope this helps you!
