How to start some photography?

I'm about to be a senior in high school next year and i wanted to take photography class but it couldn't make it's way onto my schedule. I want to start doing some photography on my own this summer, but I'm not really sure how to start such. Any suggestions? I just need a place to begin.

1. start to take pictures of landscaping like flowers then ask somebody if they think there nice then start to take pictures of animals then people
