For a beginner photographer which Nikon is the best?
I am looking at the Nikon D90, but I would like some professional help! Thanks!

- The D90 is a perfect camera choice for beginners if you intend to really get into photography. It might be a little top end heavy though if you're not 100% sure. You might want to take a look at the new Nikon D5000. It has a similar feature set to the D90 but is suppose to be lighter and easier to use. I've yet to test it out though. The D60 would be Nikons usual starter model, however the D60 camera is a smaller build and if you are going to be getting into professional photography a little light on features. It's better if you're active and running around with it lots. You'd be likely to upgrade from the D60 quite quickly if you were a porfessional and needed high quality shots. It really depends on what you intend to use it for however. I use a D60. It's not perfect, but I value compactness for the things I get up to. Best to go to a camera shop and hold one, you'll know straight away what feels good!
- The nikon D40 and D40X are really good for anything you will want to do. they are very versatile and can accept many lenses that other similar cameras won't accept. they come at a decent price and are durable and high quality and a decent, comfortable size. Some amatures will argue that they are old and that others are better but the truth is anything much above this (without going way into super professional models) is just waisting your money for bells and whistles that you will never use and don't really need at all. also, my personal opinion, avoid anything with any kind of swivel screen ... one wrong move and its all over. also, anything with video settings is ok if you want to just play arround but you can do that for alot less with a video camera or a less expensive point and shoot. Professionally i dont believe it is worth the money. but im also a bit of a photography purist and maybe a bit old school, lol i just go for quality.

- I was a beginner too until last December. I got into DSLR's with a D90. I am confident it will last me for quite a while since I have so much learning to do. I won't outgrow it for some time. And as a beginner it also has the full auto mode for when you aren't sure what to do. It really is a good middle of the road camera. It lets you do very advanced stuff but it can also be used as if it were a basic camera. Have fun!
