What is a good, fairly cheap camera for a beginner photographer?

I've never really done much photography, but after messing around a little on other people's cameras I want to take an interest in it. What are some good, manual cameras? Is it possible to get a digital camera where you can also adjust the controls and focus, etc.? How much do cameras like these normally cost? Any tips for buying? Thanks. :)

  1. You probably want an entry level DSLR. I'd get a Canon Eos 1000D. Should set you back about £250 if you get it from the right place. Here you can use auto settings and slowly progress to learn more manual and creative ones.
  2. Good manual cameras for beginner Nikon D40 DSLR is a good camera to learn with.Affordable price and take good picture. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KJQ1DG?ie=UTF8&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000KJQ1DG or if you want point & shoot that have munual control I would suggest Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 10MP with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. Full SLR-like manual operations including aperture, shutter, program and full manual modes with Advanced Scene modes http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CCLBSU?ie=UTF8&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001CCLBSU
