  1. Look at cannons! Cannon is the way to go! I was really interested in photography and people started telling me I was really good. But I had a crappy camera. I got this... http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=Canon+PowerShot+SX100+IS+8+MP+Digital+Camera&hl=en&cid=11169951754449496920&ei=7HC5S53sDprWjgSwipXkBg&sa=title&ved=0CAcQ8wIwADgA#p I had it for a year and then its started acting up on me. IF YOU GET IT GET INSURANCE ON IT!!!! Noo joke! with any camera.. I treated mine very well and after a year I had problems. I am getting a new one soon. but Im getting a better one since I have advanced in my skills. Its a great learning camera. really nice macro setting! and easy to use ....until recently. Maybe consider taking a photography class with this camera.. depends on how advanced you really are. Just to help you understand settings and such. I would also start with digital instead of film. film is expensive and with beginning you need practice! and you cant just pop out 100 pictures a day on a film camera!! Also with this camera I would recommend. actually i would say you MUST get rechargeable good luck! Photography is awesome! this camera inspired me want a career in photography! :)
  2. You can buy a 100 dollar point and shoot camera but that wont give you the creative freedom you are looking for. I would say save up a little and buy the Canon EOS dslr starter kit. It comes with two lenses and the camera has an auto mode. It runs around $700 bucks but will last you a long time before you out grow it. After shooting in auto mode for a while you can play with manual mode and start to learn the technical stuff like ISO, Shutter speed, and dept of field. My tip to any beginner is to take as many pictures as you can in manual mode using all of the different settings and get comfortable with your camera. Hope this helps
  3. I am currently enrolled in a photography program at IADT and I use the Canon Rebel XSI. I also own the Canon Rebel xs. They arent really cheap but if your looking for a camera with freedom these would be it. The only diff between both of them are the xs is 10 megapixels and the XSI is 12.2. You can get one for around $800.00.
